Gusar is often called the 'Northern Gates' of Azerbaijan, and with good reason as it borders with the Republic of Dagestan in the Russian Federation. Four of the nine climate zones existing in Azerbaijan are present across the territory of the Gusar region where the year-round Shahdag tourist complex has become a major highlight. Functioning as an ultra-modern ski resort in winter and a recreational resort in summer, it lies in the picturesque foothills of the stunning Caucasus Mountains.
